M’illumino Natural Medicine offers thoughtful, personalized, and effective natural medicine care for modern humans.

How it is different here.

  • I see only one patient at a time, and spend a full hour with each patient (more at the initial visit) getting to know the ins and outs of their body better and better each time. Many acupuncturists will see multiple patients at a time. Working with patients one on one allows us to get more nuanced with treatments and address your overall health picture more comprehensively.

  • My adherence to classical Chinese medicine principles means that I spend time diagnosing based on pattern differentiation, and treat accordingly. There is no one-size-fits-all prescription, nor is there one protocol or treatment for X symptom or disease. You and your neighbor might both suffer from indigestion and bloating, and the appropriate treatments for each of you might be vastly different. It is my job to uncover why your body is expressing the symptoms that it is, and treat the root of that.

  • It is my passion to help humans to understand their bodies and to learn how to care for them in ways that become intuitive over time. Sometimes this means discussing how to prepare food and eat in ways to promote health. Sometimes this means addressing your sleep, even if that’s not why you came in originally. Sometimes this means learning how to keep your hips mobile even when you are far away from the acupuncture table. Sometimes it means addressing the headache that you happen to have today, or the digestive issue that is underlying the headaches that you get. The body is one great, vast system, and it is all relevant.

I understand what it’s like to feel stuck about your health.

My approach to the human body is rooted in the principles of classical Chinese medicine and tailored toward people like you and me: modern humans living modern lives in the western world.

I utilize customized herbal formulations in the tradition of classical Chinese medicine, acupuncture, manual therapies like gua sha and cupping, as well as practical lifestyle guidance and nutrition exploration to help people feel better in their bodies.

It is apparent that as modern humans, we are often strangers to some of the basic and crucial components that contribute to a healthy life and a comfortable, well-functioning body. Classical Chinese medicine offers a holistic and complete view of the body and guidance on how to care for them in ways that are sustainable and health-promoting as we move through life.

My training has taught me first and foremost to recognize patterns and locate blockages, and to treat accordingly. This way of working with the body can often provide satisfying answers to the question of why you feel the way you do. Treatments are simple and safe and lasting (with minimal side effects), because we are treating the root cause rather than just suppressing symptoms.

In working with patients over the years, I have found that much of the suffering we endure is unnecessary and often avoidable. Yes, bodies are mysterious and there is much that cannot be explained. That said, more often than not, there are often lasting, safe solutions (with minimal side effects) for many common ailments from chronic pain to unexplainable fatigue to digestive discomfort to hormonal imbalance to anxiety and depression.
